Stealth Cover Problems!!!

I was installing the cover this morning and i was treading the piercing screw into the circuit board on my truck and i got voltage and then all of a sudden the cover snapped down and the screw striped out. I am really nervous about this install in the first place and this did not help my fears at all. Has anyone had problems with these covers the instructions are not that great so any help would be great. The new cover is in the mail so i should have it in a week or so. P.S. now i have a voided pump and now more power than before....this sucks!

voided pump? What did you do?

In the instructions that came with my plate, it said to turn the key to run and check for voltage at the stud, and once it made contact to only turn in like 1/4 turn increments and just until it got voltage, no further.

My Blue Chip cover said to turn screw until it made contact and then
1/4 turn.

My stealth cover did the same thing. I went a little risky with a slightly larger screw.

Void meaning my pump was still under warranty and now it is no longer and my truck is still not tapped...i turned it down till i got volts and then the 1/2 turn and that is when the plastic treads stripped out and the cover snapped down.
