Starter Spacer?

I'm in the process of doing a tranny swap, an 01 NV5600 in place of a 98 NV4500. The 01 has a starter spacer roughly 1\2" thick between the starter and the trans. adapter. The truck is cranking this way, after installing the NV4500. Do I need to remove it and use it on my 98 12 valve or does it need to stay on the 01. I don't have the six speed ready to install ,and I'm swapping with another guy, so I want to take it off if I need it before he picks his truck up. I also don't want him to have starter problems because of this.

Lots of folks off enjoying the 3 day weekend.

Might have to wait till later today, or even tomorrow for someone who knows to step up.
