Anything that helps is a good idea, but one of the problems with the factory lift pump and this auxillary pump is they are mounted way up by the engine. Mechanical pumps suck very well, and electric pumps PUSH very good. So if you add an electric pusher, you want it as close to the fuel tank as possible, hence the basic BD kit with a carter pump inline on the frame just ahead of the tank, or ideally a FASS system that hooks directly to the supply line out of the fuel tank and mounts by the tank. Some people have theorized that the engine vibrations could be part of the cause of lift pump failures, so if there is even the slightest possibility, I would not mount another electric pump on the engine. Could you mount it by the tank instead of by the engine?Or is it only made to pull fuel and not push it?

I have the stanadyne pump on mine it DID increase by 6 psi and I mounted it by the tank, but I had to mount it by the tranfer case skid because it hanges down about 1 inch past frame rail I figure it is made to have diesel ran thought it so it should last. I bought the pump by it's self and put together a -8 fuel line from tank to vp.
