im thinking about getting stacks size will be 7in. can someone tell me how much louder thay will be in the cab.

ds1rider 03-03-2006 10:09 PM

Tons louder.

blackdiesel 03-03-2006 10:29 PM

with the windows up and the radio on its really not that much louder. i wish i could make my truck twice as loud...

busted 03-03-2006 10:30 PM

i have a striat pipe now not bad. would it be hard to here the old lady lol.

blackdiesel 03-03-2006 10:36 PM

many say that their wives complain about the noise. However i do not have that problem :D

mr T 03-03-2006 10:40 PM

it will be louder in the cab depending on how short u have them...once u get to cab level then 2 or 3 inches up or down makes a decent difference...stay a couple inches above the cab...

busted 03-03-2006 10:43 PM

i was thinking about going 4inch higher then the cab.

MasseyMan1089 03-03-2006 11:10 PM

this has been brought up time and time again, just like the giant diesel engine that everyone wants to put in the back of their truck! The sound is louder, thats obvious, you are taking the exhaust pipe from 8 foot away, to 2 foot away... its going to be louder, but you will get used to it.

IMO I would not go 7", its gonna cost you lots of $$$ and I really think 6" is the biggest I would go before it looks TOO big!

doodah 03-04-2006 12:19 AM

I might be selling my whole Stack setup here in the near future, I run 5" mitres, And I live in Iowa, Pm me if they sound like something you would be intersted in.

duallydave 03-04-2006 08:57 AM

ya 7inch would look ridiculous, the 6inchers even look to big,and you would have so many adapters to get to that size,4inch off the turbo to 5inch stacks look the best, just my opinion.

busted 03-04-2006 10:42 AM

seen a set of 7 on a truck looked really nice. but from what im hearing 6 or 5 is the way to go.

doodah 03-04-2006 02:20 PM

Well, just for an idea of the size, these are 8"

Oh no don't do that, Why do you want to sell them??

mr T 03-04-2006 04:34 PM

go as big as u want!..4 inches above the vab will be just fine inside the cab with all the windows closed...when i wanna hear the roar that it makes i open up the rear sliding window in the summer and enjoy my mini locomotive

busted 03-04-2006 05:00 PM

mr T like the stacks i want mine higher by 3-4 inches i pull a 5 place snowmobile trailer and have sled in box and don't want a black sled by the time i get upnorth lol.will need two have a heat sheld.

Run 4 inch diameter 36 inch long turnouts and turn them to the side like my son did if you want louder. That thing was insanely loud.

suzukiZrider 03-04-2006 09:19 PM

is that 8 inch setup made of stovepipe?

PapeCAT 03-05-2006 01:25 AM

I love the look of the stacks that are on huge CAT equipment. They are Flat black, 6" I think and are mitre cut types but with no gradual turns, just an abrupt, seam welded taper to keep rain from coming in overhead. Now if only I could get my truck wiht those and painted in REAL CATERPILLAR yellow and black... CAT with a cummins... hmmm [eyecrazy]
