Stacking boxes

Call me stupid if you like but Im curious.
I hear of everyone stacking boxes so how about two comps. Would it work to run one wire tapped and the other in ez mode.
Im runing a drag now and have a comp on the shelf collecting dust so I figure I may as well try it if it would work without a meltdown.

Thanks Mooseman

That would probably put too much timing going to the engine. I don't think the engine would like that. The same thing happened to a buddy of mine who tried to stack a comp and superchips. He said the engine started up, made odd and strange noises, and when he tried to shift into gear, the engine lugged down, sputtered, and almost died. He took off the superchips after that.

Normally stacking is done with something like a TST, or a bluechip stacked with timing box like an EZ... (or a MAD ECM or an EZw/special MAD ECM) There are fueling limits to the VP.. The Comp does a good job of covering both the fueling and timing.. that's why it is so popular..
3rd Gens stack a little different.. normally a fueling box (timing/duration) stacked with a pressure box..

I'm not saying it can't be done.. I'm sure someone has tried it.. and I know there are some out there playing with adjustable gears and timing wheels to change the timing of the VP.. but for normal applications.. I think (as stated above) its going to be too much timing=head gasket failure... (also have to make a Y harness for the data port.. but that wouldn't be to hard..
Ok.. I'm done rambling..

I would not do it. Even if it wasn't too much timing, which it would probably be, the VP44 can only handle so much fueling...and with the Drag Comp, I believe it is maxed out.

The TST Competition model runs into this problem....calling for more fuel than the VP44 IP can handle...creating surging and jerky performance on the higher settings.

But I don't know anyone stacking more than one timing box per engine.

Talking

not a good idea.i stacked a comp with a van aaken box and the timming advance was to much,it had excellent power up to 2200rpms then it sputtered and ran like crap.the van aaken was taken off.like the other guys said.stack a fueling only box with a timming only box is ok.but better yet use a comp it does both and does it well.
