Spec clutch
Spec clutch
Has anyone used or heard of someone using a spec stage 3 clutch. I know everyone likes the south bends but on a college students budget I like the price of the spec. I can get a clutch from spech that will hold 1k lb torque for about $700.
I've only heard things about the Spec stage 3 on LS1's, and it's not pretty. Most guys don't get but maybe 2 or 3 passes down the track and the clutch is shot. It chatters and rattles alot. Doesn't last long at all. Now, the stage 4 is supposed to be a lot better. But I know of only a couple of guys running those.
Spec is working hard on the Dodge Cummins clutches. I think they will have a good program in place soon.
They offer 5 stages and even some nice billet flywheels that meet SFI specs. SFI billet is good for us that run high power and want the extra safety factor.
The stage 5's have the ability to hold big power of the Cummins. I have no data they have but the combo of clamp load and parts is there to make it happen.
Multi-disks are also available!
