what are they talking about when they say silencer ring, not to sound dumb or anything

 

Its a ring that they put in place to quiet the turbo down. Cuts back on the high pitch whistle.

 

it is a baffle that slides into the turbo inlet and is held in by a snap ring. basically all it does is take the whisle out of the turbo. no performance enhacement. I think it sounds better with it out. really easy project, just take off the air filter tube, remove the snap ring and pull the baffle out.
