Shift mounted E-Brake switch

After having my Jacobs E-Brake installed at my dealer, I realized the rocker switch was very inconveniently located at the bottom of the dash just below the power outlet. In order to get to it I had to fully extend my arm and take my eyes off the road...No good! You can see about half of the rocker switch just above the brake controller.

I found a 2 speed rearend swich and adapted it it to my shifter...works great! ;D Now if I can just turn my transmission right side up... Here's a couple pics.

[/quote]Just about every 1 1/2 ton and bigger trucks used to have a 2 speed rearends...remember? Too bad Dodge doesn't offer a switch like this in their E-Brake kit.
Okay. I'll bite. Who thought of that several years ago?

Re:Shift mounted E-Brake switch

Yep, used to drive them quite often with that little red switch.
That's where I got the idea years ago. : ;D
Check my photo album on page two.
I've tried all kinds of switches and that one works the best.
Plus, it make people ask goofy questions like "hey man, did you put a two speed rear end in that rig?"
They see the Mag Hytec cover and think it's a two speed rear. I just say YEP, and walk on.

Re:Shift mounted E-Brake switch

The '03 kit came with the shifter switch. I too get asked if I have put a 2 spd rear end in the truck. Mine is stamped Cummins on the side. (the switch not the rear end) ;D

I've seen one of those. That is a nice clean install.

How about a picture of your set-up. Maybe I'd like to get a switch like that if it's cleaner and less homemade looking.

I didn't think the E-brake was designed for autos? Am I wrong?

I found that pic of that Cummins switch that comes with the '03 brakes while surfing their site.

Called Cummins and they got me a price on just the switch....$75!

I bought my PacBrake from a member. He sent me his 2spd switch he was using with it....its black....with a blue know with Eaton in white letters on top. I really like it cause its unusual, not like everybody else's black and red ****! 8)

That looks great! I called my dealer today and they said the switch was not available as a part. It comes with the kit only. Does anyone know if this is true or know of how I can buy just the switch?
I'm counting on you dearler guys on this site to work your magic and make this happen...I know you can do it! Let me know, please. ;D

You're right. I pulled this off the Cummins site.

* Dodge recommends the use of exhaust brakes only on vehicles with manual transmissions.

They are useless on a stock auto tranny but with a DTT or ATS upgrade they are great. [So I've been told]
