Re:Scotty Air II...The Evolution
I can add that I got my Scotty II towards the end of the summer. This setup, after experimenting with various other types of filtration ranging from stock box w/K&N to custom setups, has proven to me to be the best at lowering EGT's. In the southeast we deal with hot humid air. I saw some seriously high EGT's drop nearly 300 degrees at WOT with my Scotty II over the worst air setup I used.

This summer I plan to put the Scotty II on my 3500 and test it on the dyno and towing the dyno

Noise is so subjective, but I think the Scotty II allows just enough whistle to be enjoyable, but not bothersome. This is not the loudest setup I have used either.

Scotty has been working on this air setup for years and so far, I think it's the best setup available for my conditions.

Re:Scotty Air II...The Evolution
Just got my Scotty II the other day ( THANKS ROD ! )
I haven't cut the hole in the cowl yet ( don't have a 4 1/2 hole saw yet ) it's hard to tell if it's making a diff. or not. The weather just got colder also but I'm pretty sure it is.
I like it really well so far.
Just got to get a saw.

: Eddie : 8)
Re:Scotty Air II...The Evolution
Well I cut the 4 1/2" hole in the cowl and man it sounds SWEEEeeeeeeeEED !! ;D ;D
If you haven't got one yet TRY IT YOULL LIKE IT.

: Eddie : 8)
Re:Scotty Air II...The Evolution
This is some great info.
Ive switched back and forth between a modified stock box with K&N filter and the BHAF.
I agree that the stock box, even with the K&N is just not a good design.
The BHAF, even with a heat shield still gets the majority of its air from the warm/hot engine bay.

Scotty has a good idea.
Perhaps, I shall be getting me a Scotty Air II as well.

Thanks for the info.
Rich
Re:Scotty Air II...The Evolution
There was a lot of thought and effort that went into the design of Scotty systems(I &II) and for us it has paid off many times over. I ended up with one of the first design by mistake..and I am glad I did..What a difference over the stock box..not only the EGTs but also I could feel the difference. The truck did not have to fight to get air. Then Scotty II came along..more improved air flow. I seen 100*+ in EGT drop over the Scotty I ..and that is from a truck that is only running a #11 plate(right now). Again the truck works even less to get the air that it needs. Would I buy another..YES..would I cut a hole in my trucks firewall..as fast as I could get the extension cord and drill out..
IT WORKS!!!
