SCMT or an Edge product

I am getting ready to purchase something for an increase in power. I know that Superchips makes a micro tuner for my truck...but all I ever hear about on here is the Edge Ez and Edge Comp Box. I was just wondering......since I'm new to "turning up cummins" which one is best? I'm sure you guys are familiar with all three and could tell me about them.

I'm looking for a big change as far as "seat of the pants" goes and I also want to roll some black smoke

Thanks Fellas,
-Ryan

Well, it just depends on what your gonna do BOMBing wise with your truck in the future. The superchips will help, the ez will help alot more, and the comp will blow your mind (wire tapped). You won't need to upgrade anything with the superchips. The ez is probably your best bet if you don't plan on upgrading your clutch (most stock clutches can handle it). You will have to upgrade your clutch if you go w/ the comp and pierce the wire.

Before you do anything bombing wise GET GAUGES!!! Pyro, boost, and fuel pressure should suit you fine.

Also, you should consider larger injectors.

I've got the same truck, and I'm going w/ an ez here in a week, then mach 1.5 injectors in a few months, then SB clutch when the stock one goes.

Good luck,
Hunter

Any upgrade should include gauges first. then you can see what your truck is doing before the modifications and what effect they have after the mods are installed. Some say you can get by with the mild fueling boxes or small Hp injectors or nothing more than a 60 Hp increase before you need gauges. This is true in most cases but not every case.

Sounds like you want more than just a little Hp so get the comp first and use it like an EZ (do not tap pump wire to use like EZ). Your wallet is the limit after that. The comp and EZ already have a built in boost fooler which you will need. I say the comp because it is more versatile than the EZ or superchip programmer, although with the programmer you get the speedo correction for bigger or smaller tires than stock and you get a code reader, which can at times be a valuable tool.

Remember to upgrade your support systems also when going for more Hp IE; intake, exhaust, fuel system.
