SB Dual Disc Break In Period?
Who cares about break in? Those of us who would like to keep the trans bolted to the back of the 5.9 for the next 100k
Just as a side note, a 3850 FB DD can be on a daily driver. I was worried about using one until I tried it. I think it is easier to drive than the FE it replaced. Heck my wife used the truck for a month or two (taking kids to school, etc) while the Excursion was tore apart.
Wow, I get back and all of the sudden there's 20 posts. Thanks for all the input, sadly I will have to break it in for while I guess
I'll find a quick way to put 1k on it....road trip!

I wasn't clear about what I meant also. I can wait to do a boosted launch, but with the stock clutch I couldn't go WOT even with the Comp off, just the new injectors did it. I should be fine if I leave the box off and no launches, but I can goose it right?
i drove mine for about 300miles normally, even had some 5th and 6th gear blasts at WOT but nothing with power shifts, or slipping launches.
the next time i filled the truck up on my way home i did a 3500rpm 3rd gear launch and it never missed a beat, and to this day doesnt slip. I even had a really bad pull this year where i rode it too long with the sled behind me, and for about 3 weeks it was hard to get into gear...and now it drives and holds just fine again.
whenever is starts getting too jumpy i just do a small 3rd gear launch to get it warm...and its smooth as butter for another few weeks or so before it gets grabby again

When I install new brake pads, I've always got them hot first time out to get them seated to the new rotors. If I don't they always pulsate when towing heavy. I've always done the same on clutches too. When I had my clutch put in at ADT, I drove it around for 500 miles & noticed that it was super jumpy while pulling out from a stop, never got better. I pulled one sled & noticed that it wasn't grabby like before & smoother to engage. These things need to get hot to break in. I understand if you guys don't want to do this to a $1700 clutch & I didn't either, but after seeing how much better it got after some launches....I would launch it. Just my nonsense.
My first clutch was from Kenny's pullin parts. It was a 3800 ceramic button dual disk. Even with SBC hydro upgrade, wouldnt go into gear worth a hoot. Kenny told me to hook and get it broke in and seated. Didnt believe it at first, but worked like a charm. I did rebuild after little over a year, but i did it voluntarilly. Numerous sled pulls and 3rd gear burnouts will tend to tear things up. Bye the way, when i pull, rev to 3500 r's, start slipping clutch and when boost hits anything over 40lbs, dump clutch and drop the hammer.
