Truck is apart , trying to clean things up. Has anyone ever sanblasted their intercooler and then clearcoated it?

 

I wouldnt chance that ,you would be better off using some aircraft paint remover.

 

Wouldn't do it. Maybe some other type of media besides sand.

 

I should have phrased it better, I was using "sand blasting" as general term for media aslo. Would aircraft stripper leave a weird residue or mark on the aluminum? What type of media should be used on aluminum?

Look for a radiator shop in your area that does acid dipping. I did mine last summer with great success.

 

Wouldn't adding clearcoat insulate the intercooler a bit?

 

Jam, I would say try a small place and see. I have used the aircraft paint remover many times and havent had any problems. If you do decide to use it read the instructions and dont try and do everything at once do it in sections.
