Question Replacement Seats

The seats in my 97 club cab are about shot. The side of the seats are torn open, which i have found to be a common problem. I want to put in leather seats when i do the replacement. I have thought about recovering the stock seats, replacing the seats with ones from an 01, but I can also get ahold of a set of 05 seats for about the same price and I like the new seats much better.

My question is: Can i put 05 seats into a 97 without too much fabrication work to the mounts? The 01 seats wouldn't be bad, but the seat belts on the 98-02 are on the seat instead of in the door jam. I was considering doing some measuring in a friends truck, but i thought i would ask here to see if anyone has looked into this before.

I've read a lot of people hate the 3rd gen seats. They say that they are NOT comfortable and the 2nd gen seats are way better. I'd put in the 01 seats and have them covered with Katzkin Leather. It is awesome!

I think the 94-97 seats are the best, my padding is still soft and supportive...my uncles old 2000 (only had 200K when he got rid of it) the seats were broke down so bad you had to sit on a cusion.

Doesn't Katzkin make leather for your seats, or is the padding shot too. I know I'd love to have leather put in my truck, but I use it too much when I'm working (read greasy from hauling farm machinery, and tearing it apart to load it )
