Reliable lift pump alternative

Anyone have an aftermarket fuel pump mounted in the stock location that is/has been working well for them.
Alas, my stocker is putting out lower and lower pressure. I will be ordering a -AN kit to replace my banjos in the meantime, but really want a better pump.
At one time P.E was the rage but after time problems developed. Anyone know if they recommend it for diesel yet?

Thanks,

S.C

Re:Reliable lift pump alternative

SC,

I have had a PE on and off my truck a few times, but the reliability hasn't been too impressive, yet. I just got my pump back again, and they have made a couple internal changes that are supposedly going to solve all the problems... we'll see. As for a different replacement, I'm now running a dual pump setup with -8 AN (1/2") lines and fittings, and it's working pretty well. I've basically taken all the stock lines off, replaced them with the 1/2", and then installed a Holley Red (7psi, 97gph) back by the tank on a custom bracket to feed a "good" stock lift pump. At my HP level I can't get the pressure below 9 psi on a max WOT run, and it stays above ~13psi with the PMax off (DD TTPM and Supermentals only). It's whisper quiet and seems very reliable so far. You can get the pump for about $100 and the lines & fittings for about $150. I'm going to try the new PE to see, but I think I'll probably end up with this dual setup for good.

I'd prolly do a FASS system and forget about lift pumps altogether.

I've had very good reliability with the Carter 4600 as a pusher for over a yaer and half and 40,000 miles. But then I also haven't had stock lift pump problems either.

Thanks guys. I ordered the -AN kit and hopefully this will help a bit. I am thinking I will need a new pump soon though.

Where did you get your AN kit, and what all does it come with? Thanks!
