relationship between dirty air filter and burned up engine
they may just lose their head if they hang around too long...
i know a new motor will have a little blow-by till the rings get seated good. the head has been ported and polished and has 12 shiny new valves-seats in it.
my grandpa was telling me about an old truck they had with a 4-71 detroit, it had a run-away. "it was the fuel rack stuck" and it just kept going, he tried to put it in gear to stop it, and it just smoked the clutch. he ran over a few oil barrels and stuff he had laying around. finalle cut the air intake hose with his pocket knife and stopped the air with his hand! what a ride!! didn't blow the motor though.
and did you say to put the vent tube after the muffler..
what muffler. lol

Common cause of runaways that you hear of is when a backhoe hits a natural gas line. The natural gas in the air will keep the engine running even with everything turned off till it hits 20,000 rpm and flies apart. Guys who hit a natural gas line and don't pull their machine away right away usually end up losing their job.
