Does anyone know the real HP difference between the two on the bottom end??? Is it worth the swap?

If you HRVP just stay with it untill it dies and then get an SO. I have never seen a HRVP make more power than an SO. The highest HP on a VP that I know of was on an SO pump.

Is the bottom end difference going to make me disapointed when switching from a HRVP44 to a SOVP44?

I have heard that an so makes more peak power, but ive seen people same hp on hot rod with spray as an so pump. So i dont really beleive any of it, Only thing i do know is the the extra 600 for the hotrod aint worth it. I made 594 1200 cuz the was the torques high reading, with a blue chip hot rod.

Not worth it imo unless you just want the better manners of the oem pumps. Both the ho and hrvp are known for their bottom end power so I'd imagine you could feel the difference.

Boydo may have set a new record for forum members with a hrvp. 699 uncorrected with a snow system, hrvp, mach 7's,..... He's running 13.2 with a six speed so he's got the power. Offshoreracer of course has made more than that with his tst hrvp and spray- still hanging in the upper 700 range somewhere. This is in the same balllpark as the so's so I wouldn't necessarily say the so pump is stronger on top.

The HRVP idle sucks, that's the major reason!!! The new Quad Race Box might be able to fix the idle lope???

I've had no idle issues at all with my hotrod pump...

I wouldn't buy one new (too much $$$$), but they are always in the classifieds. People moving up to a p-pump. Not only do you get the used price, but no core charge. Sell your stocker to offset the cost. Mine ended up only costing me $500 and it was like new still under warranty (until the 2nd day I owned it by tapping the wire).

I thought the larger injectors would make up the low end.

I hope so. I will have both pumps so I guess I can always change back and forth...

I personally felt like I lost power going from the SO to the HRVP, but I never tested it on a dyno or at the track. Not sure if it was because of injector setup, timing or fueling box, but judging from the go pedal I wasn't impressed like I anticipated.

I noticed a difference going from the stock HO pump to the HRVP. It was good for about 60 hp to me. I realize that is not exactly what you are asking vs the SO, but just stating that the HRVP did what it was supposed to do for me. It was hard getting a straight answer at the time as to whether a HO truck could run a SO pump. Now it seems that many are doing it.

x2. My seat of the pants meter rated it at 50 to 75 hp. Again, this was a stock HO to a HRVP.

If my mach 4's added 150 and the smarty added 60 then the hrvp added 80 on my setup. Unfortunately I didn't dyno each step so I can only speculate.

I just hope I'm not disapointed when I do change over to a SO VP44 pump unless Quad's Race Box can cure the horrible HRVP44 idle.
