Re evaluating my cluch needs
Re evaluating my cluch needs
Well I am honestly looking at what I need out of a clutch, and here is the deal.
I am pretty much positive that I am going to go with a South Bend, due to the customer service, that is what I have built my business on after all...
I don't see myself replacing the turbo any time in the forseeable future. I can see water/meth, but not a bigger turbo.
What I think will happen is that I will max out my current turbo, and then spend some money elsewhere (bumpers, dog stuff, pay off crap...) and down the road (3-4 years) go to twins and a DD.
So will a CON-O (13") hold? I drive pretty sane 99% of the time, and I am starting to think that I don't really need an OFE, and don't want to spend money I don't really need to. I am going to have to rebuild my tranny at the same time
Thanks in advance for the help.

i didnt do the clutch this weekend, i had to put it off. some highly enlightened individual rear ended my little commuter car doing 50 mph, so the car is totaled. I need the truck for work, when i get another little car, i'll take the truck down and do it right.
She was petting her pomeranian while driving, and didnt see me stopped to make a left turn. Sherrif gave her a few tickets.

Nick
regardless of the clutch u get, u can have a world of HP and if you dont hot rod the truck alot it will hold. I was holding at 350 rwhp on a stock clutch for a while before i trashed it and went to my current valair inc clutch. Now at 500 (or near it) rwhp the clutch still dont slip, but i dont abuse it to slip either.
If you drive the truck sanely, then go ahead and get the Con O or another reworked stock clutch, it will serve your needs, What i mean by extreme usage that would kill your clutch is hot rodding the truck, or riding the clutch alot, Both of which i do not do (i shift clutchless alot of the time).
I aint got nothing against a southbend, and i think it will work for you if its the way you want to go, Im certain ur at about 300-325 rwhp and i know for sure that the milder Con O will hold up to that, if the stocker could do it, that clutch should do so much easier...
Good luck man!
Rick
