Pyro probe replacement time?
I'll be replacing an HX35 turbo soon, so I thought I'd ask about this, since it's in the vicinity --
Anyone have good advice on how long pyrometer probes last, and whether they should be replaced at regular intervals? I've got 15,000 miles on mine, and my EGT's don't get above 1250*F. I don't imagine it's due for replacement, but if it's a good idea to do it when putting a new turbo in. . . you see my point -- don't want it to fracture after another 20K and take out a turbine wheel.
I'm running an Autometer pyro & probe, pre-turbo, if that's any help.
Thanks for any input.
