Question Pusher Pump?

Forgive my ignorance (I should just probably put that in my signature and be done with it).
Does a pusher pump replace the stock lift pump or is it to be used in conjunction with it?

Thanks,
~Rob

in most cases it is a second pump used to push fuel up to the stock lift pump

In this context, "pusher", it is as Seabee said. I unhooked the stock pump and installed a FASS. I have never looked back and have not been happier. 17psi ALL the time.
You can get a cheaper FASS pump now, a complete kit for about 300.00. It is well worth it, if you consider the stock lift pump costs about 150.00, and the time to install it, so once you go through 2 of those you could have bought a FASS and been ahead of the game.

Chris,
I have been looking into the FASS as well. I like the idea of getting rid of the stock LP all together. At one website I was at last night, they want $599 for the system (either 95 or 150 gph pump) that includes a fuel filter and an air/water seperator. Do I need the whole system or can I get just the pump for around $300 and still get rid of the stock LP?

Thanks,
~Rob

I too went with the FASS system while I was out at Forest City Diesel. Keith sells them if you can't get one. His ad appears at the top of the page.

Just say "NO" to stock lift pumps.

Either FASS eliminates the need for factory lift pump!

FASS II will require you to keep your Fuel Filter canister.

I found my best price at City Muffler in OKC....a DTR advertiser.

Thanks RJ,
I am going to look into the FASS II. If it is only $300, seems worth the piece of mind to me to get one and not have to worry about the stock LP (especially since I plan on keeping the truck longer than intended and Bomb'ing it). As my truck is my daily driver and I can not afford for it to be down, I want to do my Bomb'ing in a logical order: intake (cheaply done for now), gauges (on order), fuel system, exhaust, clutch, then power mods.

Your truck will thank you for it in the long run....and save you money too!
Some of the best advise I got, when I started out, was to do my tranny first. Was lucky enough to be able to do it. Never regretted it.
