Puke bottle finally done

Here is the link to the puke bottle kit I recently installed on my Dodge. http://www.puredieselpower.com/catal...it-p-6117.html. I know I know I could of just pieced one together and did it cheaper. But this is very nice, and works perfectly. I have noticed my truck is running hotter than it ever has before. I have noticed my radiator has a nice black ring from all the excess oil being pulled from the fan and getting all into the fins of the radiator. Its ok I plan on pulling the radiator and intercooler out when I install my body lift and clean them properly. I ran the hose across the front of the engine under the upper radiator hose, used 2 rubber bushed clamps and bolted it to the alternator bolts, then ran the hose down to the bottle which is mounted on the passenger side frame rail. I drove the MA to pick up a 87 Tecate 3. When I got back I cracked the drain screw and it worked perfectly. Why god did I wait so long to do this??? Its super clean and looks nice too. See my picture

I remoted my botle to the transmisson cross member by running a piece of 1/2" conduit through 3/4" heater hose. Now' the bottle is very easy to empty.

heater hose is not the best hose to use. Its not oil friendly and it gets pretty squishy on the inside.

Thanks for that useless comment?? I know I could of got it cheaper, sometimes cheap isnt always best, just like spending the most isnt the best either. I thought about getting a Moroso catch can from Summit, and then gettting the rest of the stuff I needed locally. But it was over 100.00 too. It comes with oil resistant hose. As much as I clean my engine, I will keep my eyes on the hose, if I feel its getting mushy I will replace it with some pvc.

i also wasted money on this last summer. at first, it worked just as you described and stayed clean as a whistle! BUT . . . now a year later it is just as messy as before.

there is one benefit though - my rad and fan no longer take on all the oil vapours - but that would have easily been accomplished with a simple relocation. i got a pretty good deal on mine and had someone bring it back instead of paying shipping though. it was still a waste of money in hindsight.

the cannister still leaks out of the valve. no matter how tight i turn it, it leaks. and if i leave it open to drain fulltime i still leaks the same amount. also, the oil residue comes out where the filter attaches . . .

i located and routed mine exactly as you described. this summer i may just chuck the cannister and replace it with a gatorade bottle.

oh, i guess another plus is the oil resistant hose included in the kit.

hopefully you have better luck than i!

maybe useless to you since you already made a purchase . . . but many other people will read the thread and it might save them some money . . .

oh yeah - also thinking about drilling and tapping the head cover and installing a fitting with a barb on it to run another piece of hose under the truck somewhere. this will give another place to vent instead of just the one that we all know of. maybe with two spots the mess at one will be less.

i have thought about also drilling a hole into the exhaust and welding a nut in place to attach a barbed fitting to run the hoses to . . . then for sure no oily mess anywhere and it will just burn off . . . this would probably be best after the muffler though so it only has pipe to travel through . . .

i've just got a straight hose coming down off my crakcase breather & tied it off to the frame....i hardly even ever see much oil even dripping out of the hose....is it normal to not see much oil coming out the tube? there's never even any on the pavement where i park....

seems to me that the only advantage to installing this puke bottle kit is that it would cut down on the diesel smell and the fumes....i know that when i'm sitting in the truck with my lights on i can see fumes coming out of the crankcase breather at night....

I'm diggin the exhaust idea, need to source a big check valve and plumb er in.

gotta do my exhaust anyways, I got the stock 3in with a rotted tailpipe.
gonna do 4 inch back straight thru, see if I can stand it and if not I'll cut a chunk off and muffler it.

seems I'd want to get the blowby nipple in the exhaust pipe as close to the turbo outlet as I can so make sure it's burnt huh
