Performance ?'s

I am very happy with my current setup EXCEPT I get very hot egts when:

1. Towing 70 mph w/ 8-10k & I have a strong headwind, 1000-1200 degrees.
2. Empty on steep hills @ 80+ mph, 1200-1400 degrees.
The superchips is on tow/safe always.

I know a 4" downipe and a Afe stage 2 will help.

What I was wondering is if I could get by with a larger turbo and not lose the current little lag I have now? The HTT 35/40 doesn't hit until 1700-1800 rpms but then hit's good and it's really nice towing when I want to make a pass. Max boost is 30 psi.

Which HT turbo would be best for me if any?

Thanks.

Have you thought about adding water to cool egts when towing?

I've had good results with my 64/12, towing and running empty, but I have a bit more fuel than you.

I really didn't want to go down the water path. My truck really pours the black smoke (not lugging) before the boost comes up, then clears right up. Does that mean I need more air or is that just normal turbo lag? I think I will try the 4" downpipe and the afe stage 2 in that order. I had a BHAF w/ shield on last summer and the egt's were higher.

I know the temps I gave are not that bad but if I could knock off a max of 200 deg I would feel better.

Whatcha think.

IMO these two mods will keep your EGT's in check better and help with any future mods.

Ok, I just wanted a second opinion. I will do those two and be done w/ my mods. May be a single stack though.

Thanks.
