I didn't notice mutch/any performance decrease with 315-75/16s on stock rims over factory tires when empty. I haven't towed yet with the taller tires, but soon. I'm using factory 8" rims and with the stock trailing arms, the tires rub the last quarter turn of the steering wheel, so I changed to the tube type traling arms because they are smaller across. There's still just a touch of rub at tight lock.

I noticed a difference when I went to 315. the truck seems to lag a little more but its not to bad. I think there well worth it, expecialy when I only run 1900 rpms at 75 mph. I have a leveling kit, i think if you do any off-roading you need to lift the frount a little. I still have stock tires, wider wheels might work and if they did they would help keep from rubbing on the control arms. Where in SD are you if your close to the hills pm me and you can ride in my truck.

I started using first gear for starts. After adding a few engine and tranny BOMB's I don't notice a thing. You will have to hear from the resident drag strip and sled puller types about performance there.

I run a 4.5" lift on 9.75" wide rims and 4.5" of backspacing. Slight rub on passenger nerf bar in full right hand turn. It's very manageable.

I will say that with 35's and 3.55 gear's this thing will scoot pretty good in 5th gear.

The rev's per mile of most 315s are about 10% lower than the 265s. Thus, 10% taller gearing and 10% less performance.

With the mod. you are planning in your sig you won't see any difference in power over what you have now.
If fact it will have more.

You may want to rethink the 5 in. and go with 4 in.
5 in. will hurt you a little unless you plan alot more in the future.
Also you may want to go with the 13 in. Con OFE conversion with the mods. your planning.
This will keep you from buying a second clutch.
But call and talk to Peter on that one.

I'm just speaking from experience.
The 13 in. OFE is an awsome clutch and I load my truck heavy.

I heard don m.'s con o held till 480 horse, and i dont think i will get that high. the next thing i would prolly go with would be a b1 turbo and 370's and delivery valves and that would prolly be it.

With the mods. your planning you will be there.
I'm over 400 HP now and I'm still runnin stock Inj's. and a hybrid charger.
I working on a varible valet switch before my 370's go in.
You may get by on a Con-O. They are a great clutch.
But I wouldn't want to buy a clutch twice.
Been there and done that.
That's why I sugested a 13 in. Con-OFE.

Like I said talk to Peter at Southbend.
He will not steer you wrong.

Good Luck with whatever you choose.

2" leveling kit in front. I do have 4.10 gears and was looking to slow the engine down a little. I should have mentioned that in the first post, sorry.

does the look and feel of the 315's more than offset the perormance loss? they are 35 inch tall right?thanks

i had the leveling kit with 295s and stock wheels. they fit fine. before i got my lift i bought some 10 inch wheels and tried to put them on. they were to close to catching the fender when i turned so back to the stock wheels until i got the 4.5 inch lift on. now the 10 inch wheels fit no problem.

It's not the wider wheels that helps, but the backspacing on wider wheels is usually less than the stock ones, so it keeps the tires away from the arms.
6.75" stock to 4.5" aftermarket.

It transfers the rub to the rear of the wheel well though,
and the only fix for that is longer control arms, or taller lift.

Sorry about the wrong info, I thought that the wider wheels had less of an offset. Would after market wheels rub bad on the back of the fenders. Lambo I really like the way that the 35 s look they seem to help the ride of the truck and to make it more solid.

Also, keep in mind that you will feel a difference in braking w/ 315's. When I went from 34's to 315's (35's) I did feel a noticible difference in braking distance. This is also w/ out towing. I know BigBlue can back me up on this. If you do tow, then I would hghly recommend upgrading your brake system.
