I am thinking of upgrading my headlight bulbs, and would like to know if anybody has tried both Nighthawks and Silverstars, and how they compared to each other.

I've got the silverstars and they made an impressive difference. Don't know if it was quite worth $40 though.

 

I have the Silverstars in my 1500 gasser. They did make a difference, not night and day ( no pun intended ) though, but nice. My '02 Sport has the clear headlamp housings so they may make a nicer difference. Will try them in it when either a bulb goes out or one of the batteries dies.

 

I just put in the SilverStars. They are better than regular bulbs but the lights are still crappy. - just not as crappy as they were before.

 

I have them too and feel the same way, so I installed my old Hella 500's on my front bumper and put 100watt bulbs in them and now I can see everthing!

 

I put the silverstars in mine and I feel that they are way overhyped and nowhere near worth the money for them. I would just get the Sylvania XtraVision bulbs instead. I'm pretty sure you can get the XtraVision bulbs at Walmart.

 

Haven't tried the Nighthawks. I have the Silverstars and they are better than stock but I still feel that the headlights should work even better. Paid $24 for the pair on eBay.

 

Had and afterthought. Try the fog light mod where you replace the fog light relay with a jumper wire so that the fog lights will work with the brights too. It helped too.

 

I did that mod to and that helped. Now I just need to do the one that clicks the lows on with the high beams.

 

So no one tried the NightHawks?? I gunna do the Sport headlight swap soon.

 

i have the silverstars with the low/high beams upgrade and it works great, i think the five min. it took to hook up the high.low beams together is worth more than the lights, but the lights helped.

 

Thanks for the opinions guys. I think I may give the Silverstars a try for now, and may rewire the headlights to draw power through relays, to reduce voltage drop.

 

Summit racing makes a good relay kit for the headlights for about $50. Real easy to install and I've been happy with mine. I didn't notice any change in brightness but it is supposed to take the load off the headlight switch.

 

What is this relay kit from Summit Racing supposed to do? Just take the load off of the headlight switch?

 

yeah, it lets the headlights pull voltage directly off the batteries instead of through the switch. It plugs in between the headlight connectors and the bulbs and you run wires to a battery and ground.
