New to board- need help

hello all, new to the world of the ctd and this board, been saving for awhile and finally bought one, 1998 24v ext cab short box auto, slt laramie. stock except for paint and 33" bfg all terrains.

i will be using to pull sleds and bikes around the hills of b.c.

now onto my question, i want power, lots of power,i want to be able to pull up to all the little rice cars around here and leave them in a cloud of black smoke.

i heard the auto tranny won't hold up to that much, have about $3000 to play with, what mods will suit my needs and keep the reliability.

thanks for your help,

kris

When you say sleds, do you mean sled pulls? If that's the case, then an EZ and maybe a set of 275 injectors. First off though, get an EGT, boost, Fuel Pressure, and Transmission temp gauge. Get those before you do anything else.

1st thing I'd do is put on a set of gauges (boost/egt/ lift pump fuel pressure/ tranny temp)

next thing I'd do is scotty II and a 4" exhuast

then before I did anythig else I'd head on over to DTT and get my tranny done cause anything more than an EZ is gonna tear it apart

go visit piers diesel and DTT since they are both in your neck of the woods ....... they'll treat you right

BTW I love my drag comp and 275's on my truck ......anymore than that and you'll need a new turbo too

Yeah. You could probably throw in a set of 275 injectors and be good also as long as you adjusted the bands and upped the pressure a hair. Do a search for the scotty 2 intake. You'll get more than you ever wanted.

I would go with the BHAF instead of the Scottie IMO.

I would save my money on the EZ and get a comp box. You said that you wanted alot of power, and this is the way to go. For starters I would get gauges. Then you can get a comp box but don't peirce the wire, it will be comparable to the EZ. The comp box os better because you can adjust the power settings when you want adn you will get more smoke! Next I would get the tranny done. Here are some more places to check out.

The BHAf is a good filter but its not up to the task of keeping underhood heat out of the intake, nor is it good for a truck that would have more then 75 extra horsepower.

You can get a Scotty II from Piers...he carries them.

I often suggest the BHAF for folks at stock or slightly higher power levels.

The Scotty II just plain outflows and out performs the competition.

Yes I am bias too.
