Smile Edge

I have a stock engine with a K&N Drop in filter, I bought a used EZ on eBaythat had a problem with it SO I dont know how they really worked, so I sent it back to EDGE and they offered me the upgrade to a COMP,, AND I'll tell you what, IF my EZ worked like this I would have never sent it back,,AND I DONT have the pump wire tapped. The torque comes in so early now it's crazy,Compared to stock. Plus I also have 4:10's SO 90MPH is fast to me,,and it seams to get ther alot quicker now. so I vote COMP.

Engine is a = 2001 ISB 185,out of a 35 passenger bus,With my stock 1998.5 ISB 235 Injection Pump and injectors,K&N Dropin,

EZ is about as much as you are going to get out of that truck without tapping the wire. If you want more, maybe start looking at some sticks? Or a comp box even. Tried my old comp on another member's truck, and without the wire being tapped (properly), it did make a noticeable difference. Made the same power on levels 1 through 5 though.

Any reason why you don't want a tuner on your truck?

All of the boxes and programmers/downloaders for that matter are all pretty much the same as far as what the manufacturer of each says it'll add for power. It's usually around 60-70hp and 160-180tq. That's about all you can get w/o tapping the pump wire.

I like my EZ, and have had no problems with it. I DID have problems with a Superchip downloader, kept setting codes.

What kind of power/torque increases can you expect to gain by tapping the wire? If you're at 60 hp and 180 tq without the tap, what would you be at with it?

Most wiretap boxes give upwards of 120hp and 350lb-ft.... this will vary though depending on which VP-44 you have.... H.O.'s typically see less ponies than advertised.

none really. i just feel like the comps in these trucks with the vp-44 and all are so finicky and troublesome as it is that i really dont wanna risk messin with it.

trying to keep the grief factor as low as possible.

looks like the comp is the best bet.

where can i buy one of those tap things for the pump

If you buy an Edge Comp, it comes with everything you need to install, tap wire, mount, boost elbow on turbo to raise maximum boost pressure before wastegate opens, mine is for sale, just removed it sat. I will not part with it for less than 325. It will be on ebay soon otherwise.

If you want the most power from a box, check out the TST Comp version, or call Blue Chip, I believe they will custom program one for you. I believe the TST Comp is 180 hp on a non ETH engine.
