max boost pressure with head studs
max boost pressure with head studs
how much boost will a stock head gasket hold without putting o rings in the head and just installing a set of studs, i was thinking someone said about 65 psi.
I dont think much more then 50 reliably. I realize many run that with no studs but I wouldnt call that a reliable amount. Anything over 45-50 with out studs, 50-55 with studs, and 65+ studded and ringed is asking for eventual failure.
Its dependent on more than just boost. Injection timing, compression changes, and drive pressure. water/meth and anything else like propane or NO2 will raise cylinder pressures.
I was bouncing off of 50psi for a long time before I installed a cam and popped it within a couple days. So now its getting studs and orings.
Cam allows this motor to breathe a lot better. I used to be able to smoke it on command but now even if I put my foot into it with the wrong load / rpm it doesnt smoke much. Thats a lot more air.
