Made 480hp, Need a few more!!

As stated in the subject, I recently made 480 hp, and 980 tq last Saturday (11-8), with the mods in my sig. I would really like to break 500 with my current mods. Is there any tuning that can be done to achieve this. Two other guys at the dyno made over 500 with very similar setups, I can't figure if maybe my truck is a little weaker to start with or what?? I am also thinking about moving to water/meth injection, and a drag comp. I realize some of this is uncharted water, but if anyone has any ideas where this would put me the information would be appreciated ;D

It wouldn't surprise me if the updating to a drag comp alone, gets you over 500. I take it your running an auto and in overdrive when you made the 480.

Running a 5 speed manual in 5th or overdrive ratio.

StillPlow'n I would try a drag comp it gave me 25 horse power. and if that is not enough get a superchips turner the turner gave me another 30hp at the tire.

Trashdawg,
What kind of numbers are you putting down? (curious)

I would suggest an ATS 3 piece manifold and the drag upgrade for your comp.

The water methanot can be worth 100hpor more depending on the mix and rate of injection and how much you like headgaskets.

the drag comp is definitely worth 20+hp. you could disable your wasteate but overspeeding a 40 isn't advisable.

You could put on twins.. they'd be worth 40-60hp over a 40 even if you used a HY30-9 on top.

Twins aren't the most cost effective way to gain 50peak hp but are worth a 4-600* degree drop in egts and more everyday usable HP.

I'd be tempted to do the tuner and the drag comp. There's more to be had but I wouldn't consider water/meth or twins 'tuning'.

If you want to put 500hp to the ground on a 5spd you will have to put in the MU13-1.25 ConFE.

The MSRP on it is $1296 ($300 core on the flywheel) you can usually find them on special for about 10% off.

the 5spd clutches are 12" and have a much weaker center section. They tend to disintegrate under heavy loads at even stock power levels.

They come with a new clutch, pressure plate, flywheel, throwout collar bearing, alignment tool, and pilot bearing.

It is a 13" feramic disc with a ~3200# plate. it should hold 550-600hp and 11-1200ft# depending on load and driving style.

the 1.25" input shaft will give way at about 550-600hp of hard use.

If you upgrade to the 1 3/8" input shaft you can use a std 6spd clutch. then have your flywheel redrilled for the 13" clutch.

FWIW,
Mark

StillPlow'n

Have you put a boost elbow on your turbo? Mike put one on his 40 and gained quite a bit (he had a 530hp/1060tq run).

How much boost were you able to build up on the dyno run?

It could be that your engine is just as strong as thiers, you just got beat by tweaked tranny's.

If you are seriously thinking about water/meth, hang on for a little. Jeff is working on a group buy from Snow Performance. We need 6 and you would make 3.

More information? I may need water/meth in a few months... How much $? What's the timeframe? Which system/nozzles? Is there a thread about this that I missed? Could they be shipped to a different physical address?

Please PM or email. Thanks! brandon.

How well do the Edge comp and the Superchips tuner work together? Is there anything that prevents a person from buying the Supercips tuner and using it on multiple trucks?

Actually, I believe that the superchips tuner only works on one truck. It saves that trucks information in on its lil computer for future reference/resets. In all knowlage every stock truck would bet he same, but it wont allow you to use it on another truck i dont believe

I have the supperchips programmer. It reads the vin# from the trucks computer and lock’s the tuner from programming another truck until you put the first one back to stock. You can still use it to check and clear codes on other trucks. It is only available for 98.5 to 02 year model diesels.
