Lower EGT's

I modified my Dad's 96 4X4 Dually with 4.10:1 ratioand the auto with an AFE, number 6 plate, and an AFC spring kit. While trailering his boat which weighs 17,500 on the trailer the EGT's will get to 1,500 Degrees on a long hill. Is there anyway to lower the Temps without moving the plate(less Power)??

More boost. You should get a TurboMaster or at least a boost elbow and get the boost cranked up to 30 - 35 psi. Should cool things down a lot.

Sorry, not enough info was given by me, the truck has a 4" turbo back and a turbo master with 38 psi on the boost gauge under load.

So you think the Scotty II is going to lower temps much more than the AFE???

Can always ease back on the go pedal. Might be able to play with timing.

That's one huge boat to be trailerable...

When towing, it keeps you on your toes. Pulling back on the pedal will help cool things off, but I would like to be able to avoid that. This truck is a HOSS, she doesn't slow down no matter how big of a hill-70MPH!!!

Definitely. I've installed several AFE's for folks who have complained it did nothing for their egts. Not one complaint with the Scotty, most report a 150° decrease in egts under load. The Scotty sucks cool outside air while the AFE sucks hot underhood. Big difference.

Do you have to drill the cowl hole or not?

Ok guys no one has said it... Get twins!!! HX40/35 with a HT3B. Long periods of time (more then 1 min) at 1500 degrees will cause huge problems. I would go with the afe, more filter surface. I would aslo bump the timing to around 15.5 degrees.

If you are only hitting 1500 with a load that big I think the truck is doing very well!!!

I'd just do a bigger single. Either a hybrid 35/40 or a PDR HX40. One of your egt problems is your pushing your turbo to hard. The hx35 is only good up to ~35 psi. After that, it goes way off it's efficiency map.
