Low FP enough to kill a p pump?

I finally checked my fp after doing some track testing and the truck just stopped accelerating about half track or so. Anyways I checked my fp and it drops to zero in 3 seconds fo full throttle. I am getting a new lift pump very soon. When I had my old 160 pump tested (not too long ago) there where some interesting things wrong with it and from what I have read the p pumps are almost bullet proof. Anyone think that after a bunch of full throttle runs with low fp could kill the p pump?

I personly don't think it would hurt it to much since. unlike the VP-44 it is oil cooled and lubricated. If it's acting normal i wouldn't worry about it.

you most definately could hurt it. just cuz it's oil cooled dosent mean the plungers and barrels wouldn't get scuffed from no fuel pressure. looking at you sig it looks to me that you need a bigger fuel delivery system. A tuned 913 with 435's should move a lot of fuel (more than the mechanical pump can keep up with most likely)

Fass has a setup, but most of the pull trucks ive looked under have aeromotive a1000's so I think im goona go that route sometime this winter. with 1/2 inch feed line and get rid of all the factory stuff (lines filters ect) have an under bed fleetguard filter/seperator and then feed it into the pump.
aeromotive also has adjustable regulators.

wana nailed it. Many of the critical components of the P pump are lubed by fuel.

Have you replaced the overflow valve, cleaned the prefilter?

I just cleaned everything about 1k ago when I had the engine out. I just got a new lift pump today (free). I hope I didnt kill my new pump yet (seems to be working fine) but on my old pump supposidly I had a stuck plunger. And as far as the overflow valve its brand new too.

Wana12v, any pics of that setup? I am not getting rid of my lift pump but maybe a seperate fuel system may be in order for racing.
