the only thing i found that made mine quieter was when i was running Bio in the truck. You could hear the tone of the engine change as i was filling it up.
But now i can't get the Bio any more.
So now i just turn the radio up louder.

Might try adjusting the valves depending on how many miles you've got. Is it a stock truck?

Mines got a 5" straight through and aem filter/tube. You can drive around and yell whatever you like to women/people/dogs/whoever and it doesn't matter, they can't hear you anyway. Same thing while it's idling.

I love how my 01 sounds esspecialy with 5 inch straight pipe. after leaveing a friends house once i made it a mile down the road when he called me to tell me that as I drove past the whole house was shakeing. and when people say something about how loud it is i tell them that iI don't trust a quiet diesel or I say hey I won't ever grind the starter trying to start it when its runnig like a gasser you know when these things are running

Dump a litre of two stroke oil in your tank, it will do the same thing. Its amazing the change from reg. diesel to bio or two stroked diesel.

When a friend first brought his '01 home all the neighbors ran to get the garbage cans out to the curb.

I've tried different things and 1 liter (or roughly a quart) of tcw-3 2 stroke Walmart oil to a tank of fuel REALLY takes the rattle away. It took about 200 km for me to notice and there is a slight blue haze when its warming up, but no difference in power or fuel economy that I've seen, but its definitely quieter...

yeah I get people all the time asking me why the truck is so loud. It really does all come from the engine bay.. its pretty bad.
What I get a kick out of is when some twit in a mercedes pulls up alongside me at a light and suddenly cant hear his cel phone.
Dogs dont like the loud racket though. I try to coast past them if I can.
I know my dog runs back in the house when I fire up the truck.

I have the ATP wrap on the '02; it does make a difference although not quite as much as I was hoping for. If you decide to go that route I would recommend only the oil pan cover and the valve cover wrap as they are the two that make the most difference. They do work but there are other options that are cheaper.

i agree, my engine is way quieter than a 24v but the pipe is a different story. my buddy can hear me coming inside his house from a mile a way. timing lots of fuel a 71mm charger and a 7" pipe makes quit a bit of noise

My Dad's dog would run to go for a ride in his 2001, but you can't hardly get her to get in his 2003??? The only thing we can think is the difference in engine noise.

has anyone tryed the stuff you buy for insulating doors and stuff for load stereos? kinda a tar like matting, probably help to wrap the oil pan and the bottom of the cab.
