lift pump
hey there im lookin for a new lift pump and i dont want to spend the big money for FASS. i found this airtex pump that bolts up to the factory location are they any good?Do they supply enuf? What pumps are u guys running and how well do they work. Thanks

I'm running a BD pump on the frame and it is really easy to install. Cost is $500 but I don't think you would have to worry about it again. Mine runs at 28psi idle and 12psi WOT. Got all my upgrades from a good friend of mine who owned Mckwynne Diesel Performance in Olds, only half hour from you, but he was killed in an accident in November 07' on his way back from visiting here in Kamloops. Maybe that's where you got your goodies. I get directly from BD now since the shop was closed.

ive got the airtex. motor is pretty much stock and its struggling to keep up. fuel pressure gauge says 12-13 idle and 5 wot. not good enough for me and like i said, stock fueling. you would be much lower. im going with the airdog next week. airtex is about 150 from oreilleys. overall, its a good design, just with stock fuel lines, it cant keep up.

Word of advice, don't try to save cash on a fuel system, get the Airdog & have no more worries. I know a good dealer, cheapest around. If you are interested, pm me.

I think a good system can be assembled for less than the cost of an AirDog, but it's still not cheap.
A Walbro 392 is $140.
A Glacer remote 2mic filter kit is another $120.
Plumb it up and you've still saved a good chunk over many other systems out there, even with a bypass regulator that's far superior to the regulation used in most systems.

I've got the airtex pump with vulcans big line relocation kit. So far I'm very happy with it, 17-18psi idle, no less than 13 pulling a big load up a long hill.

While I'd agree with that, I'd also say that spending a huge wad of cash is no guarantee of good performance or value (Banks for example).
I think a good system can be assembled for less than the cost of an AirDog, but it's still not cheap.
A Walbro 392 is $140.
A Glacer remote 2mic filter kit is another $120.

I've got the Airtex from DD and the adaptor to move it to the frame, gonna make my own big line/relocation kit and eliminate the banjo fittings........should perform good for the price!

I ran a Fass for 3 years, they are very reliable & overall great pumps. I now run the Airdog 150 & after switching from Fass could honestly say that the Airdog doesn't lose pressure at wot like the Fass did. The Airdog is so quiet that I have to listen close to hear it, the truck also idles smoother than before. I'm not knocking Fass at all, just giving honest feedback. Both are awesome systems.

The total Walbro based system can be built for about $240, filter not included. If the OP is interested in saving money, the thread in my sig lists the part numbers for every component necessary to plumb up a Walbro. And having spent about $240, I realized I bought many parts that were not needed, so I would say that $200 would do it.
