Less engine noise with VA

As you can see by my sig, I have an HO with an EZ. My friend let me use his VA and I was amazed how quiet the engine was! It was quite significant. Does anyone know why? I liked the throttle response of the VA verses the EZ. All those using a Va and towing, are you happy with the box? In the future I was thinking of a Va and 1.6's, any thoughts? Thanks to everyone for your thoughts. Luv this site

Gary

I have the Van Aaken V5. I think it's a fit better for the HO engines.
It seems to have a milder timeing advance than the EZ.

i've got an original van aaken and rv275's and couldn't be happier with the towing performance. I have never needed more power and last trip hauling a 2006 suburban at 60 I got 16.6 mpg. Definitely a great towing box.

See my sig, if I had the $ I would have the exact set up you mention (minus the HO part).

I have yet to hear any negative comments on the VA boxes. Most users that have had the chance to run both an Edge EZ and a Van Aaken seem to prefer the VA.

Can't wait.................

Be careful where you buy the VA from. Valleyfuel on Ebay sells them fairly cheap, but they are remanufactured boxes. Mine was purchased from him for a 2000 and sold as new in box. I later found out that is was originally sold in 2003 for a 2001 model truck. The warranty was expired before I even bought my truck. That being said, it is running great for now.

The VA box works great for towing. I would use the V5 or R box over an EZ any day.

Duely noted.

These are the "R" type boxes. The new(er) ones are V-5's.

There ARE some deals to be had on E-Bay (NOT VF), they list them at $399.99 but I called last week and they are selling them for a nice discount below that with free shipping even!

I would be carefull buying them on ebay most if not all of the vanAaken boxes that are being sold on ebay will have no warranty and have been sold to companys that were private labeling them and now are selling them through there dealers as new vanaaken products.

That's kind of what I've been thinking (and saying) I'm confused as to why someone would pay $450 +/- for a EZ when you can get a VA for $365?

Who has an EZ that has tried out a VA and prefers the Edge Product?

When I was stock with just the older style VanAaken, engine was noticeably noisier(from extra timing), but also noticeably quicker.

I went from a ez to a va and really am happy with the va. It comes on sooner and more evenly. The ez may have made a little more power but it smoked alot more at times. I had the feeling that it was not consistant if that is possible?? I also think that I get a little better mileage with the va.

Barry St John,

Glad to see you say that we have had a lot of customers say that about the VA V series 24 valve boxes too. They work great with a set of Bosch 275RV injetcors.

I had one of the early style VA's on my 01' 6 spd. & it was awesome, I too had RV275's, & later a blue chip FMS stacked, it was awesome to tow with, I often said that if I HAD to remove one or the other ( VA or blue chip ) I would have kept the VA over the blue chip, it was an awesome stack as well, made lots of power, with reasonable fuel mileage ( was geared 4:10 ), but I was really happy with mine, Dusty
