Question kill switch

So I read about the poor fellow up in bc who lost his truck this morning which got me thinkin' .Has anyone tried to put a togle in the switched power line to the ecm? or any other Ideas? I am not so hip on a starter disconnect or solenoid bypass as that stuff is so common that any good thief should be able to get by that in seconds. After i locked my keys in my work truck (95 2500 4x4 ctd slt) it took me 2minutes to fab a tool out of banding and get in the rig, kinda scarey considering I work for a living.

My fear is if I interupt the ecm will it disable my factory alarm? any expierience with a successful starter interupt would be appreciated. I want the poor son of a ...gun to have to drag my truck off with a tow truck cause it wont start!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!deadhors]

Could rig up switch in the circuit for the shutdown solenoid.

A switch in the starter relay circut would work too. Low current. Maybe have it turn on the exhaust brake so it smokes and goes slow and causes the cops to investigate.

I thought about the shut down solenoid but if I were a thief under the hood of a diesel the s/d solenoid and starter would be things I might look at, exhaust brake is a good one....except I don't even have a muffler! IMO the ecm controls so many aspects of the truck that disabling it would seem like the hot option, as who would know where it was clipped....as long as it could be done without buying a new ecm and airbag and who knows what else.

I have no expierience with this but the schematic shows a constant 12v and a switched 12v switched is on with the key and strt circut, so if this circut were interupted via toggle or similar switch the ecm would not recognize the start sequence...I think...hopefully someone could enlighten me or chime in with some other good ideas

I work offshore for 2 weeks at a time. and the truck sits in the worst kind of places, what I did was to wire up the clutch starting switch to the cig lighter. one has to push the lighter in so the starter will start turning, I do keep a spare in the truck just in case it burns out , its been working great for allmost 5 years
