porting intake elbo

hey, i was wonderin if doing an intake plenum/elbo would give me more hp? or can you port out the stock one?

Banks makes a "high ram". Check e-bay... I'm not sure how much of a gain you'd get - especially if its a standalone.

You'd probably be better of with a boost controller or turnbuckle/elbow, assuming you have a need for more air.

they make boost controllers? how much are they? arnt they like $700?do they make a manuell one?

i heard some guys sayin at a dyno a few weeks ago that they lost power with the banks high ram

Yea, they're all over the place. Joe-p is the one I got. You can do a search on MBC or manual boost controller for more details.

The beauty of forced aspiration is that you don't have to get picky about porting and polishing... at least not like the NA motors...

Just cram the air in there

Interesting... I've been contemplating on if I should dyno my truck. The shop where one of my friends wrenches at has one, and he said that I might be able to get a deal. They want $280 or something for a session. I don't know how long you get. I really did not build my truck up to be any sort of performance machine either, so it'd have to be more like $100 for me to even consider it.

I never thought the high-ram made any power, but I'd be surprised to see if it hurt power. I liked the port for the boost sender, but other than that it was just another goo-gad. I think that there are better things to spend your money on than a high-ram though...
