Installing a stack
Installing a stack
I have a 01 2500 and im putting a 6 inch stack in.
I was seeing if anybody got advise on how to install it.
I was planning on getting 4in-5in adapter, 5in 90, 5in-6in adapter, and clamps.
does anybody know if it would be better to use flexpipe.and if so how would i install that

I Will Try And Get A Pic somtime Today When The Sun Comes Out. The Adapter, Flex Pipe, 90*elbow, Adapter And Stack Is The Best Then You Will Need To Find A Way To Secure The Stack To Your Bed. Do A Search For The Staxxclamp It Looks Really Nice
that flex is exactly what mine looks like under there too. but I have a 5" down pipe so I don't use the 4-5 adapter......
I do though use 2 short radius 90s to kick the pipe over to the passenger side of the bed. Use a long radius 90 to come through the floor from the flex..........you can get adapted pipes. I paid $160 for my chromed 6" miter from my local Peterbuilt dealer, and its a 5" inlet.

on my truck the stock exhaust was 3in so i had to weld a piece in that went up to 3 1/2in that was the only welding i did. the flex pipe is clamped if you look close you will see 2 bolt at each end of the pipe. the elbows are done the same way using accuseal clamps which are a little different than the flex pipe clamps i will get more pics tomorrow
i am thinking about putting duals on my 1st gen. what would i need for piping? my dad doesnt like the idea of cutting a hole in my box either, he thinks that it will just cause rust. whats the best way to make a nice cut and not get rust? sry about using someone elces forum to ask my own questions, but i dont know how to post my own. can someone tell me how to? thanks
I too am interested in stacks but am concerned with noise. How loud are these things right behind your head? Does it help to have turnouts that face to the side or back of the truck? I never understood people using 6 inch material. I don't mean to sound critical, but even on most great looking big trucks, all they have is dual 5 inch stacks. Isn't 4 to 5 inch stacks plenty for our trucks, or should I just shutup?
The discharge on my big turbo is 5" so my 6" stack is not exactly stepping it up huge.
when you make your cut, clean it up and immediately prime and touch up paint the exposed metal. it won't rust any faster than the rest of your truck.
