Injectors or programing box

This may have been beaten to death but please bear with me. I am looking for "free horsepower", as in the same or better fuel economy. My truck lives with a camper on the back so is always hauling a load. I would like to get some moderate horsepower gains, say 50-75. All my driving is in the mountains of British Columbia so EGT on the hills is a concern.

What are the pros and cons of say the 275RV injectors versus an Edge or other programmer. I have only been nibbled by the bombing bug so no plans to do both at this time. And yes, guages will come first.

I would do Box before injectors. Reason...with your weight, the Edge timing will help as much as the HP.
Actually, I would recommend the Comp Box! Adjustability is nice and you would enjoy some higher power under certain conditions. Can always turn it down to lower level (incl. level of EZ) for EGT control.

Does not get discussed here too often, but these boxes were originally designed for stock injectors!

RV275
Pro: cheap
Cons: no adustability
Better milage ??? I don't know

Programmers
Pro: cheap
Con: no on the fly adustability
Better milage: more than likely

Edge EZ or similar:
Pro: In cab adustability, 2-3+mpg if used sensibly.
Con: Pricey

I don't how 275 would affect you EGT's. I can say with my Edge Comp on EZ mode I had a tough time getting to 1300 pulling 6K up hill with a 3" straight pipe and bhaf.

Best thing to do is get an EGT guage so you're not guessing.

First off welcome
I would say your SECOND mod should be a Edge comp
after you get your self a set of gauges ( at least a pyro) as you stated
I dont know of anything that will give you the same gains with the flexability to use it for the dollar. Locally when I bought mine Piers had the best price. You will be amazed at what the difference is

Go with the Edge Comp.

When I turn off my comp, and run with basically just the 110hp injectors, I'm not very impressed. Injectors need to have more aggressive timing. I believe the Edge comp is a fuel timing and duration box.

I doubt RV275's will add 50 hp on a SO engine. A used EZ will be cheaper and give more power. A Comp adds something like 120 hp.

Go to the top of the page and hit the classified section. There are a few Edge EZ's and one Edge comp for sale there. If you are interested in an Edge EZ I see member McMopar has one for sale on page 2. I bought my injectors from him and I would definately give my endorsement of A+ in my dealings with him.
