I might be getting a 12v...school me!

Well to make a long story short im sick of making truck payments (at least higher ones) and I plan on buying some property within a few years. Im seriously thinking of selling my truck. The only thing is I just bought my trans about a month and a half ago. Im thinking out de-bombing my ride and selling nearly all my after market parts minus the intake and exhaust and buying a 12v for cheaper. My question is would my trans bolt right up? If not then what would I have to do in order to? As far a 12v's go I would like mine to eventually be very bombed. What is a good year? 97? 7100 the best pump? Any info helps guys...thanks a ton.

I'm not sure whether or not the 00 tranny is computer controlled, if it's not it should mount up. 96-98 would be the best trucks for bombing.

I did what your thinking about, though not for $$$ reasons but for reliabillity reasons ( VP FREE FOR ME ) I am very happy and absolutly dont regret it. I sold all the stuff that I couldnt use on the 12V ( Comp/ATS man/studs ect)and kept the stuff I could ( twins/gauges ect) since I stayed 98 to 98 there were no other differences. If you are buying a auto then the year wont really make much difference as far as power goes (only 96-8 standard trans trucks got the big pump) so just find the right truck and change out the pump if you want to. All 94-98 trucks had P7100 pumps in various hp configurations. 98 seems to be the big year as you got the newer dash and could get the Qcab.

give suncoast a call and ask them if it will swap, I don't think you'll get a better answer anywhere else.

96-98 is the best year

anything with a 913 pump (aka the 215 pump) is gonna be great to u. Just look for a 96-98 manual.. but since u have an automatic trans already, i dont think it matters, they will have the 180 pump (the same years mentioned above) which is just as bombable as a 215 pump..
