HX35. Hard to Spool and sounds like 35psi @ only 10psi

My HX35 just started making this really wierd noise this morning. When I left I noticed a funny noise around 6-7psi then it bacame really noticable at 10psi, and just gets louder from there. This is a really really high pitched smream too. I ran it up to 30 once just to check EGT's they were normal. It seems like its a little tougher to spool and falls faster than normal. I havn't abused this turbo at all. Its gated at 35psi right now and has only seen 38 or 39 ever, just short burst. I have checked the BHAF and air tube, they are clear. Im thinking about putting the stock airbox back on just to see.

Any Ideas

Thanks
Jamie

Check all of your aftercooler hoses. Besure all clamps are tight. If they are, pull the inlet hose from the turbo and check for wheel play...........

Pull the filter and intake hose off, then spin the impellar with your fingers and wiggle it up and down and in and out. Visually inspectic good too. See if there are any marks from it grinding against the housing.

I pulled the air intake off and didnt see anything out of the normal. I need to go check all the intercooler boots and tighten all that up.

What would cause the bearing to go out?

sounds like a boost leak... if thats not it tho, it could be that one of the bolts let loose at the manifold where the turbo connects to it. I had the same thing with my twins, and it turned out to be that... check them out when the engine is cool, and tighten them up, i believe its a 15mm wrench...

Alright, I found the problem. When I tapped the pump wire about a week ago I left the very last clamp loose on the intake horn and tightened that up and everythings normal.

Thanks for the help guys,
Jamie
