i'm a smarty fan and a smarty owner, but i'm a newbie and somewhat ignorant about the matters you all have discussed on this thread. i got my computer-literate son-in-law to help me set up my computer to download any new software upgrades for my '02 ctd auto-tran model, and then how to dump these upgrades from computer to smarty. fine. but i cannot find any upgrades for my '02 after a cold-weather upgrade and an anti-theft program. where are all these beta programs and other high-rpm and whatnot new software programs? somebody please invite me to the party. i've got the intake and exhaust and lift pump, gauges, j-hook and so forth. i think i'm ready. put me in, coach.

 

If I recall correctly the software on the website is the current version with the speed limiter stet to 150mph.
The different versions are for theft deterrant and winter update only, but hte catcher softwares have the higher limiter. You could e-mail or PM Bob Wagner on this site since he is a vendor of Smarties

I have a problem here. I just tried the update, got everything right except when the new driver window pops up when you first plug in the smarty. Now it wont pop up when i plug in and i cant update. Any one know how i can get the window to come up again?

 

Nevermind fixed it. For anyone who might run into this problem just go to the control panel and click add hardware and go from there.

I actually figured it out a little bit ago. It was all of the dang German language throwing me off and such. Also all of the pictures were so clumped together for me it threw me off. I would not been able to figure it out without this thread thats for sure, its just that I am not as computer literate as most of you guys. I think I will be able to figure out to do it again after thinking about what I am doing before I do it.

Sorry to bring this thread back up top but I just wanted to say OMG. What a pain in the butt.

I'm so computer stupid I'm lucky to get the **** thing turned on. Anyway, as I sit here at 2am I was able to follow this guide STEP BY STEP and it's actually downloading. I can't freaking believe it. only took me an hour.haha

So how do i know what version software my Smarty has? I just got it today used and i know it's an S03 model, but the version pops up so fast i can't write it down. I know
The anti theft, do you have to set the Smarty to #0 everytime to use it?
Can i rename the files after unzipping them? just keep the .smt after the name.

 

What he said.I know this is an old thread,but I finally got around to updating my S-06 to TNT (from 4.06),it took me probably an hour and a half (thanks to your detailed instuctions).I never would been able to do it with out your help, thanks again.Now if I only could read German.

 

I found out that the Sony Ericsson PC Suite does not play nice with the Smarty USB driver.

There might be some other apps that do also use some sort of the FTDI driver that is used to transfer data from your pc to the smarty.

So if you just can't get the SmartyUSB to acknowledge that your Smarty is connected, or never get the new hardware found dialog, check for programs that are related to anything that you plug in via USB like phones, GPS etc. There might be one of them effectively blocking your use of the smarty.
