How do you talk to someone that thinks they have it all figured out?

I had the Superchips tuner on my truck but took it off and now have an EZ. If he tows the Superchips is NOT for him. There is no boost fooler with it. The instructions will tell you not to tow on the highest level because of high EGTs and they are right. I had the second level 50hp installed and the EGTs were hitting 1250 degf when climbing out of the tunnels (towing a 8080lb 5th wheel). And any power increase was eaten up by the stock torque converter. When I got the new tranny I could almost tell a difference with the Superchips, but when I got the EZ it made a big difference in towing and had a lot cooler EGTs. Tell him to save his money.
I also have had trouble with it and have sent in 3 e-mails to their support center and still have not received a reply (over 2 weeks). I have tried calling and ended up talking to some guy who apparently doesn’t know the difference between a gas engine and a diesel engine. He actually told me that raising the boost wouldn’t help, that it would make it run too lean. They might know gas engines but they have a lot to learn about diesel. Or maybe they had a guy from the gasser side filling in for the diesel guy that day.

I thought it was " you can lead a horse to water but you can't make him drink"

I would print out Billg's responce and hand it to him, if he's not interested in getting on this site for a little good advise.

I use to have a stuborn streak, but the wife knocked it out of me.

Education is expensive and it seems that Paw-in-law is about to take a class in how not to bomb a Cummins. Chapter one is how to smoke a transmission. Chapter two is principles and procedures to effectively melt a piston. Chapter three how to take an, “I told you so” gracefully.

Is this right?: The higher boost levels that the EZ provides helps coold down the EGT's.

Yes.

My truck went from 1300 degF @ 21 PSIG boost stock to 1100 degF @ 30 PSIG boost with the addition of the EZ (with boost elbow), BHAF and 4" exhaust.

Quote; "I told him first off that 235 is @ the flywheel. and it will never happen with the box he wants. And that 300 horses will smoke his auto tranny. And without guages, he will screw allot of stuff up pulling in the hills @ 300 hp & auto tranny."

He needs to get a BD Transmission Pressure loc along with the 300 HP. I've run my set up at around 300 HP for 100K miles. Tranny is fine, and she runs!
