Holley Blue pump question

I'm going to be installing a vulcan relocation kit and a draw straw II on my truck this spring to replace the intank unit dodge put on when they recently replaced my vp44. I was think of going with a Holley Blue pump for my set up. I've seen that alot of people on DTR run this pump or the holley black. I'm not going with a FASS because it's not in the budget I have for a fuel system. Any of you that run the Holley pump, do you run a filter before the pump? If so what is it? Also I saw on Jegs and Summit Racings websites that there isa Holley Blue and a Holley Blue Marine pump. Besides the price what is the differance between the two?

take a look at my pics for secondary fuel filter ideas but my hbp died a week after i installed the filter go to autozone about 30 to 50 dollars cheaper the differance between the marine and the black is the gph go with the holley blue 14 psi and 110 gph you may need to strech the spring to get your fuel pressure up to 14psi

I do not run a filter before the Blue. I've had mine on there about a year and a half and about 15000 miles. I get about 16psi at idle and 11 or so at WOT.

Ran mine for 3 years. 15psi at idle and 11 at wot. Finally died on me one day and I had to replace it but since then no issues.

I put a holley blue in dad's truck, he has an in-tank, and they work great together.(18psi -15psi) Why do you want to put a draw straw in it? The blue is more likely to fail than the in-tank. IMO

I had a Hollye Blue on truck I just sold ('99 3500).
It was installed just in front of tank, no filters, no valve, etc. I had approx 60,000 miles on it and never had a problem, I carried a spare in the truck, just in case but it worked great for me, I had same "budget" problems and I didn't want to "shell out" $ 600.00 for a FASS.
It's a very easy installation, I even used same wiring as OEM pump and never had a problem, it's a little noisy when you run it with motor shut off, but once truck is running you won't hear it.

Heck I still have the spare here, if you want it let me know $ 50.00 shipped.

I have a 12v now and don't need it anymore....

From searching this site and an another one, it seems that others also take the intank out of the fuel sytem and just leave it in as a sending unit for the gauge. Plus if i decide to make higher hp with my truck, the draw straw will already be in place and I won't have to mess with it down the road.

Thanks for all the replies, I'll go with a holley blue.

Valv, you have a PM.

Do as you wish, but you will have more pressure, and volume if you run both

From what I understand if you have too much pressure it'll cause hard starts and after a certian PSI the fuel gets sent back to the tank.

on a STOCK truck fuel goes back to the tank. its what cools the vp. The more volume the better. Now with the intank and holley blue you'll only see 20-22 at idle. and you dont start seeing hard starts till 30+psi. So no worries
