Help...Intercooler flow rate?

Can anyone help? What is the minimum to maximum intercooler flow rate for a stock '98 cummins diesel? What size requirements are needed for an intercooler? I'm in the process of putting a cummins into my '82 cherokee 4x4, and I need to retrofit an intercooler into my core support. The smaller the better, but I don't want to reduce my ability to upgrade horsepower in the future. Any suggestions? PLEASE HELP.
Thanks,
Ryan

How much boost do you intend to make and what RPM do you need to run at?

Some numbers @ 3000 RPM and Sea Level:
Boost CFM
5 423
10 519
15 612
20 704
25 794
30 882

Lbs/Min = CFM / 13.35

It is mostly about pressure drop I would think. Find one that will flow what you need and has an acceptable pressure drop at that flow rate.
