help identifying old go fast parts
help identifying old go fast parts
So its been probably 8-10 yrs since i parked my 12 valve and tore down for a full back half air ride and 4 link. got sidetracked and life happened now i will never finish it but have bought a 97 and am working on it now. I know I have valve springs, 4k gsk, 370 injectors and lots of other parts off old truck. Is there anyway to identify these old parts to stick in new one. Just incase I didnt label everything correctly 10 yrs ago?
I'm in the same boat, on a small scale. I think I might have a spring set and 3gsk, not sure how well I labelled them back then but getting ready to pull them out and wondering how I can be sure which is what...
Is the 'new' 97 truck an auto or stick?
For your inj pumps you'll need to get the long number off them to find what they are:
0402736854 160hp auto 94/95
0402736841 175hp stick 94/95
0402736911 or 885 180hp auto 96/98
0402736913 or 887 215hp stick 96/98
the 181 DV's will have the 181 stamped on the top of the valve. So will 161 and 191 dv's, accordingly.
The injectors will be tougher. The quick and dirtiest way is if they're stock, near the tops of the bodies you'll see the 4 digit like 6818, 6817 from auto trans trucks. 0325 would be from 215hp stick trucks, *but* many injector builders also use the 0325 as their starting point on custom honed injectors. I can't remember what 370's have on them, been a long time since I've seen a set.
Any Gov Spring kits will have the one-piece spring seats with them instead of the small two-piece, so those should be easy to spot if your pump has a GSK.
Proper fuel plates will have their numbers stamped on them: 5,8,10,etc.
Here's a couple pics I took of 3K gsk compared to stock gsk.
