Orings typically cost $50/hole. The problem is finding someone close with the correct plate that bolts to your head or block for the cutting. You may want to consider an aftermarket head that's already oringed and ported. Then you could swap heads and be done.

Scheid's got a shop in IL. Think it'd be worth the drive?

If you want give us a call and I can help give specs to a machine shop in your area.... Its not magic, if they have a good mill they should be able to o-ring it for you.

Just do the head. Should cost about $300 for the oring job, but you should have the head completely gone through. Studs and a o-ringed head, if done right, will handle 65psi no problem.

Also need to check to make sure the head is flat...and have it checked for cracks. Piers always said that there will be cracks..it just depends on how many and how bad they are.
That would be the first thing that I could do..is have it check for cracks. Not good to spend the money on O ring and then find out the head is bad...

I was pretty suprised when I took my head in. 120,000 miles, 60,000 with PM3, 40,000 with 100 HP inj and not a singel crack.

Hey Doug- how are those custom studs you're selling working out? How much boost would you expect them to hold w/ or w/o the o-ring?

Well..... ARP is still in production with them. Hopefully they will arrive in the next 4 weeks. The clamping force should be quite a bit higher so there will be better integrity.

As for the holding limit, it has to do with cylinder pressure more than boost pressure. When we alter timing, nitrous, propane, water/meth, all of these change cylinder pressures as well as boost. These studs are designed to give the clmping load of 14mm studs without the detrimental effects of removong block material and reduce the cost associated with it.
