have 14cm housing can i add different wheel
Hey guys, years ago i had a Banks Stinger Plus installed witch they installed a 14cm housing can i change the compressor wheel and if i could what size and would it help for towing and egts? The truck is a 97 auto.
Yes you can, I put a 60 on mine from HTT. Pretty easy install, just need to do a little machining. I swapped a 14wg housing at the same time, probably lost 100-200 deg. Spool up is a little slower, I do get some minor surging with a light load under light acceleration with the edge on low. Not sure how it would behave on a 12 valve.
I'd stick with the compressor you have, especially with an auto.
The 14cm housing is ideal, imo for that compressor size, and you don't want the additional lag of the bigger wheel because of your auto trans.

I just added my 60mm upgrade from Gillet and I really like it. My egt's dropped a good deal and I'm pretty pleased. I'm still running my stock 12cm Exh. housing, but I would like to swap it out for a 14. No surging with mine yet, but I haven't towed with it yet.
