Unhappy Had to back it down a tad

I put my #10 plate in about a week ago. It was wicked quick. Man it would just go and go. But after the thrill wore off, cooler heads prevailed. Moved the plate to almost full back (in the slots). Trying to save the tranny, and I can now see how a tranny would get trashed in a hurry with the #10. Before it was about .030 back. Now I am probably twice that. Did not experience any slippage that I know of in the old position, but at least this makes me feel better. I can feel the power difference (decrease), but I know the tranny is better off.

Power is still better than the stocker, even with the stock plate at about .030 forward, the #10 just gives me a better power band. Still has a nice mid range as well. Have to see how it does towing, but that won't be untill the spring.

I am so far back that the gov. lever is probably halfway up the lower ramp on the plate. Should I adjust the gov. lever while the plate is in this position to be just above the start of the bottom ramp? Will I loose top end if I do this? Or is it just a waste of time because I am so far back? I did notice now and even before moving the #10, that the lever does not go all the way up the second (defueling ramp I think) ramp. It seemed to stay at the base of the valley. That was with me pulling up on the selenoid lever and moving the throttle by hand.

Might move the afc cover a little forward as well. Boost is about 22-24. Pyro still gets into the 1000-1050 range, but that is when I am trying really hard to do it. Kevin

If you set the gov lever down to just above the bottom point, you'll cause the power to come in at a higher RPM. This is a good thing for your tranny as line pressures will be up at a higher RPMs. Piers is really good to talk to about adjusting the plate/gov lever. Call him up, he always has time to talk.
