GSK kits
GSK kits
Ok the one thing I've been wanting to do but haven't yet and don't know why. So I'm trying to decide, 3k or 4k kit? I have no problem with the valve spring install, I'll have to have the head off again soon anyways for a new hgasket
I don't know if it's blown or not but I keep puking antifreeze out the overflow every time the boost gets past 20 or so. that's alright, time for O-rings and ARPs anyways. Yeah back to the subject at hand. I'm building twins, and going for bigger injectors than the 370s, just wondering which one you guys like better. I've done a search and read through as many as I could, but still undecided,,,sway me lol.

I only have a couple things to mention, really I don't think you'll need to rev very high but if you're pulling the head anyway it'd be tempting to get the 4k kit. Overall this will cost well over double the 3k gsk kit though. Piers currently has a special on 3k gsks so that may make it a bit more attractive to just take a 3k.
Well it's pretty inexpensive as far as most things go on these trucks, So Im not really worried about the cost of either. But on the another current thread, I'm hearing 5 and 6k now that might be fun lol.
i read ur profile there carefully...so u have a 94 motor in there with a 215 pump?? then go 4 k gsk WITH the 60 lb springs u got a good pump so u'll rev high i got a 160 pump and the 4k gsk by itself would get me to about 3400rpms and thats it...have fun
for the guys that have these things what is the difference between the stock springs and the 4k springs? is it the amount of springs? or the size? or tension? tell me guys...or get me pics please

MR T, they're heavier springs, they have more force to close the valves. Higher RPMS make the cam move faster which makes the valves float. Kindof like if you pull a table out from under a lamp really fast lol, the lamp "floats" for a second before gravity pushes down on it. If the force of gravity went up, the lamp would fall faster. Or think of it this way, it's a spring with more horsepower, goes down the track faster
And yeah, it's a '96 manual trans inj pump. That may be confusing, I had that in the signature until yesterday, just messed with it. Maybe I should put it back in?
So what is it? The higher the spring tension in the kit the slower the arm moves up the plate? So I suppose that's how they get the big pullers to rev to 5 or 6 grand. Wonder if the 60# springs are enough to keep the valves from floating then lol.

thanx smokin...i actually wanted to know more about the springs in the pump...but u answered my second question...is there anything extra ordinary about these pumps springs? stock vs 4k vs 3k?...a lil pricey for springs...what makes em so special?
They are just stronger.

The largest spring (on left) is the idle spring. You will need to REUSE this spring when doing a 3,000 or 4,000 rpm spring kit. The other two springs you will replace with the springs you received in your spring kit. When installing a 3,000 rpm kit, you will replace the two small springs with two slightly stronger springs. When installing a 4,000 rpm kit, you will replace the two small springs with the 3 springs provided.
