It depends on which way you get them off, too loose will cause a low idle, sluggish throttle and limited RPM's. Too tight will give the affect of performance GSK's but with hard starting and high idle, and you may possibly have to step on the gas to get it too start.

Most of the time it may not be very evident. Sometimes a throttle surge or flutter is very noticable. Optimal GSK setting may be looser or tighter than stock settings.

I installed mine to the stock depth and had no problems at all. I was a bit concerned at first as the springs are actually a little loose with the truck not running. I've had them in for over 4 years. It fuels hard to 3200RPM. Haven't taken it higher due to stock valve springs.
