got smoked by a stroke today
Re:got smoked by a stroke today
I normally run 36" PJs, and put 245s on to race Friday night. I found the gear ratio to be too short with the short tires. Slowed down considerably during 1/4 mile. More fuel / air, that is my .02.............................

Welcome to the board, you'll find this one a lot busier than dieselram.com.
Sorry I missed your run Friday, didn't get there till 10:45, just in time for the Midnight drags to start.
Saw only 2 Diesels run, what looked like a brand new stock lifted Ford vs a brand new stock Chevy.
I think the Ford won.
I'm guessing stock, due to no smoke from either.

Re:got smoked by a stroke today
I have 35's with 3.55's and empty no problem. Only problem I have is that when I pull the camper I pretty much loose 6th gear until about 65 mph. Before that it doesnt have the r's to make it run efficiently. I am pondering about putting in an overdrive unit to move my r's in 5th over to about the same as I was stock with sixth gear. Plus then I can really drop the r's while I am empty. It seems gears are more of a problem with gas motors. I would say get the gears and run the better rpm. I still have stock clutch and with the 35's I would slip it very easily. I think it works out to a 3.08 gear if I was running the stock tires. Now I have the stock tires on because my BFG's are being replaced for free. I cant slip the clutch nearly as easy. Plus now it really takes off.
