goerend transmissions?
goerend transmissions?
i was planning on getting an ats stage 4 transmission, but then i heard about georend and i havent heard a negative thing about them. im going to be running 500hp on the trans, and not doing to much pulling. does any one have a price on these trans and what add ons i should do to it to support the power
My opinion STAY AWAY FROM ATS, but thats just my thaughts. I personall wetnt with a tranny from Goerend for the same reasons you stated and a few others. His tranny came highly recomened by others and what i like best is that I had called him to talk about it and left him a message since he didnt answer. He called me back later that night even though he had already left the shop. i told him about my truck and what I did with it and what kind of power I was making with it and what I wanted to hit (nearly 600 and I want 7-800 rwhp yeah its a daily driver) and he told me my options and what he does to the trannys. One thing I like is that he doesnt require a core deposit he just expects you to send yours back to him, and I figure that if you dont you may not get a warranty on your new tranny ( just my thought not his words). I put mine in last December and have LOVED it ever since. In fact it has helped me TWIST one drive shaft in two and bend a yoke on another. So yeah it puts the power down. I really cant say enough good things about him or his trannys, they come with excellent instaliation instructions that are even in color and you can get him on the phone for any kind of questions you have about it too. Unlike other places where you just get to talk to a tech you actually get to talk to the guy that does the final inspection of your tranny before its sent out to you. He has my vote when it comes to an auto tranny for my truck.

Dave was my choice! I bought the parts and had at it it wasn't to bad at all and the truck is a totally differant animal now! You can't go wrong with his service either if you have any issues he won't abandon you!!
You don't state why. Is there a reason for this or is it just because you run a different trans? You don't give any reasons. I have heard lots of great things about Goerend on this site that is for sure. But just because a lot of guys are running them doesn't make ATS trans' bad. In my opinion ATS makes an incredible T/C, and they make a fine trans. Compare the billett 5 star viscuss clutch torque converter ATS makes to the rest. It is an awsome T/C. Powermad, don't overlook ATS, they are a good company to deal with and make a fine product. I'm sure Goerend makes a great product too. I don't know, I have not dealt with them. ATS diesel has a great website with good info.
This is without any burnout before letting go of the brakes with the trans in "D", tow/haul off. Let go of the brakes at 10PSI.

I'd say Dave's Tranny is up to task. He built me a converter for exactly what I wanted. Never asked why or said, "this is what we have, if you want something else too bad." I also did the work myself and paid less than $4k for a billet flexplate, billet input, 2nd gear upgrades, valve body, and torque converter.
Try that at ATS. Plus, if you sell your truck, Dave's warrenty transfers. ATS DOES NOT.

Goerend gets my vote.
I cannot say anything bad about any of the builders. But will always say more good about Goerend. Dave helped me with his transmissions and parts for a long time. Flawless service and very near flawless parts (the only thing that was ever flawed he called the customer and sent him a new one as soon as he found the fix). Just talk to him on the phone, and you will feel confident. He even sent me a really big box of caramels at Christmas.
After reading here and having discussions with a couple members that I think quite highly of I called Dave and told him of my usage and expectations. He didn't try to "oversell" me anything, as matter of fact for what I'm towing he suggested a single disc converter would meet my needs. I did go with a triple with the lifetime warranty just in case I wanted to go with more mods. I built the trans using his converter, kickdown lever, and valve body kit and it's the icing on the cake for my mild engine mods. What a joy to tow with!!
I have also sold two of his complete transmissions to a couple of my good customers (this is at a Dodge dealer mind you...) that were towing heavy and had past issues with killing transmissions. One is local and loves it and the other I will probably see this fall as he's a snowbird and only comes south in the winter.
Dave G gets my business.

One thing guys, don't oversell Dave, they are now requiring a 1K core charge, 300 on the Converter, and you pay extra to get the lifetime warranty on the triple disc.
Doesn't change my opinion, just shows me they are growing in business.......
